Helsinki-Malmi Airport has been an active hub of aviation business and general aviation. About 300 people worked at the airport, and the combined turnover of the companies was about 20 million euro. Thousands of active aviators have flown at the airport, of these around 700 hobbyists. The major part of the activity has been commercial pilot training of private and professional pilots. Five commercial flight schools and several aviation clubs have operated at the airport in recent years.
